Service

The service team aids in the creation of service events throughout Oakland and the greater Pittsburgh area. We focus on community outreach and finding new and unique ways to get involved and give back. Whether it be charity walks, trips to the Food Bank, or ice cream sundae nights at family house, the service team tries to aid the area in which we go to school. If you have a new idea about community service, a new charity event you would like to see come to fruition, or you just like helping people, then the service team is a great fit for you. Events in Service: Target Day of Service: More than 70 Pitt Business students, faculty, and staff teamed up with Target employees to assemble 250 care packages of essential toiletries for families of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh during Target’s Day of Service. “At Target, community giving and service will always be the cornerstone of our company. Team members are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents to support community projects,” said Leslie Hanson, executive team lead at Target. The event came to fruition as a result of a student project within the Certificate Program in Leadership and Ethics (CPLE) curriculum. In spring 2015, CPLE students were tasked with creating a service event that would blend business and community service. Following the success of the 2015 event, Pitt Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), an undergraduate professional development organization, took up the initiative to make Target’s Day of Service an annual event at Pitt Business. The Pitt Business Career Services Team also helped the students in coordinating the event logistics.
